Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives.
We have an opening for a High School Teacher.
JOB GOAL
- Assist students in learning different subject matter and the skills necessary to contribute to their development into responsible young adults.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide instruction to students in assigned classes.
- Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
- Preparation for assigned classes.
- Assessment and reporting of student performance.
- Identification of students at risk, with the assistance of appropriate support, to complement academic instruction and student welfare.
- Work and communicate with parents and staff regarding student needs and progress.
- Arrive at the job site according to the established work schedule.
- Coordinate classroom duties with support staff and administration.
- Be responsible for equipment and materials for the program.
- Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
- Have current lesson plans and appropriate materials available for use by any substitute, if necessary.
- Work to stay current in subject and content areas, as well instructional techniques.
- Directly responsible for supervising the work of the support staff, when appropriate.
- Utilize non-violent crisis prevention intervention techniques when necessary.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of an environment which is non-threatening, safe, restorative, and where the students feel respected, accepted, and a part of the school community.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Contribute to the school environment using techniques and strategies found within restorative practices guidelines.
- Other duties assigned by the BHA PRIDE Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate (all certifications accepted)
- Experience from a previous school or agency is preferred.
- Experience working with children/students.
- Utilizes effective written and oral expression.
- Basic computer literacy.
