What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapist position at Behavioral Health Associates?
Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives.
We currently have an opening for a Therapist.
JOB GOAL
- Provide direct counseling and academic/behavioral support to meet the needs of students in a therapeutic and educational setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide therapeutic and academic services to students.
- Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
- Utilize non-violent crisis prevention intervention techniques when necessary.
- Assist with delivery of academic instruction.
- Document student observations/data.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of an environment which is non-threatening, safe, restorative, and where the students feel respected, accepted, and a part of the school community.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Be responsible for equipment and materials for the program.
- Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
- Have current lesson plans and appropriate materials available for use by any substitute, if necessary.
- Work to stay current in subject and content area of instructional techniques.
- Other duties assigned by the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Education or related field
- Experience working in a school setting or mental health setting
- Basic computer literacy
- Utilizes effective verbal and written expression
