Job Title: Full-Time Medical Assistant (MA)

Description: The Full-Time Medical Assistant is a vital clinical support position with Behavioral Health Clinic (BHC). This position is primarily located at our Wausau location, there may be travel to our Stevens Point location. This position follows a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week.
The Medical Assistant plays an integral role in ensuring high-quality patient care by supporting providers, coordinating patient needs, and maintaining a welcoming environment. Through compassionate interactions and precise clinical documentation, the Medical Assistant helps exceed the expectations of our clients, providers, and referral sources while ensuring seamless and efficient clinic operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and prepare them for psychiatric appointments, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Collect and document vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, referrals, and follow-ups, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with clinic policies.
- Assist with prior authorizations, prescription refills, and medication management under provider supervision.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, and psychiatric wellness resources.
- Ensure exam rooms and medical equipment are properly sanitized and stocked.
- Collaborate with the psychiatric care team to ensure effective communication and support for patient needs.
- Comply with HIPAA and clinic confidentiality policies to protect patient information.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Prior experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and basic medical procedures.
- Compassionate, patient-focused, and able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the power and strength of a positive and confident tone.
