Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as the Community Based Domestic Violence Advocate in the Domestic Violence Services at Behavioral Health Network!
Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Domestic Violence Services with the following:
- Working with survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault to complete & monitor individual safety plans.
- Completing risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention with individuals served.
- Assisting survivors in emergency situations with obtaining shelter, financial assistance, and other basic needs.
- Counseling victims through their DV circumstances and educating them about their rights and available community resources.
- Ensuring seamless response to survivors needs by connecting individuals with referrals to other services, including court advocates for support with legal proceedings.
- Connecting individuals with follow-up services such as counseling, group support, legal services, and District Attorney Victim Witness Advocates and gauging satisfaction of services through surveys after one year for support.
- Providing transportation to individuals as needed to help access services and providers in the community, as needed.
- Providing and participating in opportunities for community outreach and education about domestic violence and sexual assault (i.e., National Night Out).
- Attending staff group supervision, Task Force meetings, and continued DV advocacy trainings.
- Completing all required contracted reporting requirements, including progress notes, contact hours, and monthly reports to meet contract requirements.

What are we looking for in the Community-Based Domestic Violence Advocate?
- Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social work, or related field (required).
- At least two years of professional experience working with survivors of Domestic Violence (required).
- Completion of minimum of 20 to 30 hours of training in domestic violence and sexual assault as well as continuing education (required).
- Ability to navigate and handle complicated situations.
- Ability to exercise good judgement, take initiative, and respect the experiences of others.
- Desire to empower families from diverse cultures and backgrounds and to work with multi-ethnic survivors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid Driver's License (required).
- Vehicle for use during all working hours should be registered and inspected in accordance with 540 CMR 4.00 (required).
