GENERAL SUMMARY
The Facilities Technician I is an entry level position for the support of the BHN Facilities Department. General responsibilities are routine entry level building maintenance and facility- related tasks including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other facility-related tasks as assigned. The Facilities Tech I provides support to the Facilities Technicians II & III’s for special projects and facility work, repair, and maintenance.

Completes short-term maintenance projects as needed (e.g., painting, basic household repairs, remodel, refurbish etc.).

Cleans windows and glass doors.

Moves and assembles furniture or equipment between BHN locations as needed.

Performs minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs and services.

Uses company vehicle to assist with refuse delivery to local waste management facilities as needed.

Performs housekeeping duties as needed.

Maintains grounds in clean and orderly manner as needed.

Required to be part of rotating “on call” services for department.

Complies with applicable safety standards at all times.

Demonstrates flexibility and cooperative attitude when requested to perform additional non-routine duties or functions.

Assist programs and staff in protection, preparation, and storage of sensitive client files for archiving as needed.

Supports any afterhours building needs and activities as required.

Attends training sessions and other professional development settings as appropriate.

Technology Utilization - Proficient at using appropriate agency computer software and agency communication systems; understands the impact of technological changes on the organization and is open to technological change in the organization.
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

High school Diploma or GED required.

Basic/entry level knowledge of facilities systems, preventative maintenance, repairs, and work.

OSHA 10 certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Basic knowledge of all facilities related safety standards and regulations (fire, evacuation, equipment handling and failure, etc.

Valid driver’s license required.

Reliable vehicle available for all working hours. Vehicle should be registered and inspected in accordance w 540 CMR 4.00
