Overview
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN (BHT)

Day Shift: Monday-Thursday 10am-8pm

Day Shift: Friday/Saturday/Sunday 8am-8pm

NOC Shift: Friday/Saturday/Sunday 8pm-8am

Location: Mesa (85213)

I. Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:

a. Assist residents with skill-building activities that promote pro-social relationships with others.

b. Complete Behavioral assessments

c. Complete treatment plans upon admission, during the review period, and discharge.

d. Document the resident progress and or incidents (Daily Notes, Daily Group Notes)

e. Document medications taken by the resident.

f. Protect client rights

g. Meet the uniqueness of every resident's needs

h. Provide treatment that promotes resident dignity, independence, individuality, strengths, privacy and choices.

i. Protect and maintain the confidentiality of resident records and information. Recognize and respect cultural differences while promoting social relationships with others.

j. Recognize, prevent, and respond to a situation in which a resident may be in danger to self- or danger to others, behaves in an aggressive or destructive manner, may be experiencing a crisis situation or may be experiencing a medical emergency.

k. Recognize obvious symptoms of a mental disorder, personality disorder or substance abuse.

l. Implement a resident's treatment plan.

m. Assist a resident in accessing community services and resources.

n. Maintain HIPPA Compliance

o. Maintain a safe and clean environment

p. Clean the rooms to ensure a new admission has a clean room.

II. Additional Responsibilities:

a. The BHT will evaluate a resident before accepting them into the facility.

  • The BHT agrees (by signing) that this is an appropriate placement for the resident.

c. The BHT provides the resident and facility with a summary of the behavioral care the resident requires.

d. The BHT makes sure that every month the placement is appropriate and will do so by completing an updated treatment plan.

e. The BHT will sign off on all resident treatment plans upon completion and will notify the therapist that it is ready for signature.

f. The BHT will sign off on all biopsychosocial assessments and upon completion will notify the therapist that it is ready for signature.

g. The BHT will make sure that every client has medications, will make sure that all orders for medications are obtained and placed in KIPU.

h. When medications arrive the BHT will make sure that the MAR has the medications in KIPU.

i. The BHT will ensure that the Medication Inventory in KIPU is current, will call medications in when running low.

j. The BHT initiates medical services referrals.

k. The BHT will call all mediations into the pharmacy of choice, will collaborate with all outpatient providers to schedule appointments, refills and ART meetings.

  • The BHT coordinates discharges and transfers, completes discharge summary and will notify the therapist upon completion.
  • The BHT summarizes and reviews the resident's mental and emotional conditions or impairments

n. The BHT reviews the medications prescribed by the behavioral health insurance providers

o. BHT ensures he or she is receiving Clinical Oversight on the First and 15th of each month to maintain compliance. Failure to do so will result in the removal of the schedule or termination. It is the BHT's responsibility to make sure he or she is completing their clinical oversight when it’s due. The therapist will not call you to schedule a make-up session.

p. Maintain availability to work, days, and hours necessary to meet the business needs.

q. Perform other related duties, assignments, and responsibilities as assigned or required.

r. Prepare meals (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

s. The BHT will not be allowed to use their cell phones during business hours. The BHT will ensure all personal phone calls are made on the BHT’s break. If an emergency call is needed, the BHT may use the facility phone. A BHT observed using his or her cell phone during a group therapy session will be terminated.

t. THE BHT is not allowed to receive or give gifts to any client, this will lead to immediate termination.

u. The BHT must maintain confidentiality at all times and not disclose any client care with anyone else besides the client unless an ROI is on file.

III. Requirements:

a. CPR/First Aid (Both must be completed IN PERSON. Online courses not accepted)

b. CPI Training

c. Current 2-Step TB skin Test or TB Blood Test

d. Medication Training

e. Evidence of training or certificate of a BHT program

f. Level One Fingerprint Card

g. Highschool Diploma or GED

h. 1-year minimum experience

IV. Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

BHT must have a minimum of 1 -year of experience with patients who have mental illness and substance abuse. Preferably in a Residential Group Home setting.

Must have the capacity to establish and maintain constructive business relationships with internal/ external clients, employees, and providers. Aptitude to research, analyze, and successfully resolve a broad spectrum of issues.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overnight shift
  • Weekends only

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Behavioral health: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Level 1 Fingerprint Card (Required)
  • 2-step TB Skin test or TB Blood Test (Required)
  • CPR Certification in person (Required)
  • First Aid Certification in person (Required)
  • Food Handlers Card (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
