Job Title: Orthodontic Assistant
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time
Job Summary: We are seeking a friendly, dedicated, and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide support to the orthodontist during procedures, assist with patient care, and ensure the smooth operation of our practice. This role requires a professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to provide an exceptional experience for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the orthodontic treatment area, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized and properly arranged.
- Assist the orthodontist during patient exams and procedures such as placing and adjusting braces, clear aligners, and other appliances.
- Take patient X-rays, photographs, and impressions as needed.
- Review patient medical history and prepare treatment charts.
- Provide patients with information on post-treatment care and answer their questions.
- Ensure the patient’s comfort throughout their visit by providing a supportive and caring environment.
- Sterilize and maintain orthodontic instruments, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety and sanitation standards.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage office records.
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient office operations.
- Maintain inventory of orthodontic supplies and equipment and notify the office manager of any needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Certification in orthodontic assisting or dental assisting preferred.
- Experience in an orthodontic or dental office is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients of all ages.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of orthodontic terminology and procedures is a plus.
- CPR certification or the ability to obtain within a specified period.
Skills and Abilities:
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient with dental software systems and office technology.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual (preferred, but not required).
