What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Class A Driver position at BEI Construction?
BEI Construction is seeking a CDL Class A Driver. As a CDL Class A Driver, you will be responsible for the transportation and delivery of heavy equipment to job sites. This role will report to General Managers of multiple division with travel to jobsites located throughout Northern and Southern California.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Drives, and operates semi-trucks (Peterbilt 389) that require Class A California Driver's License using a heavy equipment trailer
- Will haul construction equipment, including scissor lifts, directional drills, compact excavators, etc.
- Maintains and upkeeps trucks to standard operating codes while enroute to destination
- Maps and charts efficient trucking routes and delivers products to clients on schedule
- Documents detailed logs of travel time, miles driven, sleep hours, and expenses to maintain compliance with the Department of Transportation
- Able to operate Heavy Equipment
- Maintains trucks and trailers to a high standard
- Fastens cargo onto flatbed, ensuring proper fastening techniques are adhered to
- Estimated work hours 6am- 3pm, overtime not anticipated
- Takes enhanced precaution during hazardous road conditions
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Skills & Requirements:
- 7 years of experience
- Experience operating a forklift preferred
- Valid CA Class A Driver License and MVR that meets BEI driving standards
- Pre-employment drug testing
- DOT compliance
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, inventory software experience preferred
- Ability to perform repetitive work in a fast-paced work environment and capable of the defined physical demands
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in extreme environments (for example sun, hot, cold, rain, etc.)
- Regularly standing and walking for long periods of time
- Regularly reaching with hands and arms to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Frequently sitting, bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds
- Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
- Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
