The Bel-Air Country Club is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Banquet Manager to join our team in our newly renovated clubhouse. In this dynamic role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the flawless execution of a wide range of private and club events.
As a key member of the Food & Beverage team, you will work closely with the Catering Director, F&B Manager, and Executive Chef to deliver exceptional service to our discerning clientele. Your responsibilities will include managing and directing banquet staff, ensuring smooth event flow, maintaining the highest standards of service and cleanliness, and exceeding member and guest expectations in every interaction.
Job Tasks:
- Works with Catering Director, F&B Manager, F&B Director, Executive Chef and others to execute private and club events.
- Manages and directs banquet staff during all phases of an event.
- Holds pre-function meetings with servers to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Assigns server stations and coordinates food service between kitchen and banquet service staff for the timing of courses. Responsible for ensuring staff is aware and ready to execute daily assignments and side work to be completed in their respective areas.
- Regularly inspects all house service areas, linen, and equipment to guarantee standards for the department are met.
- Enforces established club rules, regulations and policies.
- Coordinate and verify all aspects of events to include but not limited to food and beverage, event set-up, room requirements such as: A/V, entertainment, billing, dcor, and other duties to meet client expectations.
- Ensure that attention to detail is met per each BEO including set ups, floor plans, timelines, food delivery, etc.
- Ensures that all banquet staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform.
- Assists with inventory of all banquet service equipment and supplies to meet required needs.
- Assists with training, supervising, scheduling, evaluating of banquet service staff, and assists in managing payroll for F&B staff.
- Assists the F&B Director with hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and discharge insubordinate staff.
- Responsible for the neatness, cleanliness, and safety of all banquet areas.
- Interacts with event host or hostess to assure all needs are being met.
- Engage in clear communication between hosts, Banquet Operations, and kitchen. Works with Executive Chef to ensure the kitchen has enough time warning on food delivery, communication between the front of house and back of house
- Ensures that state and local laws and the clubs policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Assist in the physical movement of Club or customer equipment or furnishings as necessary to complete a tight turn-around of function space.
- Works with vendors to enforce BACC policies; arrival, set up, meals, managing client timelines and departure
- Oversees setup/breakdown of event, including clean-up activities and securing the facilities.
- Attends F & B Department meetings and confers with management to identify, plan and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency.
- Discuss write ups and follow up reports with the Banquet Operations.
- Provides tours in the absence of the Director of Catering & Special Events and offers suggestions in an effort to book the Clubs facilities for the occasion being planned.
- Performs Opening or Closing Manager responsibilities when assigned in other Food and Beverages Outlets of the Club.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Previous fine dining and banquet experience
- Proven track record in successfully executing all types of banquet functions and other special events
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Knowledge of the principles, procedures and equipment used in the storage, care, preparation cooking, dispensing and serving of food in large quantities.
- Able to work flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays and split shifts.
- Must have good communication skills and an outgoing personality.
- Good organizational and follow-through skills.
- Ability to demonstrate proper banquet wine service.
- Knowledge of kitchen and banquet equipment.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Food safety certification
- California Responsible Beverage Service License
