The Broadband Technician, as part of the Field Operations team, plays a crucial role in BAI Connect’s success by supporting our Customers. Broadband Technicians are responsible for the day-to-day installation, operation, and maintenance of BAI Connects Residential customer services.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in the field at various BAI Connect Residential Customer facilities
  • Ability to be a subject matter expert/troubleshooter for Residential Installs.
  • Installation of customer services including pulling and terminating communications (CAT5/6, RG6) cable, and configuring of equipment.
  • Basic experience with use of Fiber optic cabling and knowledge of signal flow.
  • Work with the direction of Senior Technicians to complete daily work activities.
  • Proficient knowledge of Direct TV MDU systems including servicing and troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic cable and circuit testing ensuring correct operations and proper service delivery to customers.
  • Install and maintain supporting infrastructure including cables, power supplies, and supporting equipment.
  • Adhere to established change management policies and procedures, to ensure success of changes made to the network and related infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal boundary partners, external vendors and customers.
  • Works to ensure relevant documentation is up to date and correct including physical as-built and logical network documentation as well as on premise labeling.
  • Ensures all work is completed safely and adheres to company standards for quality of work.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skill and Knowledge Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
    • Relevant trade school desired.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in a related or similar technical field. Telecom, network service provider or data center experience preferred.
    • Previous Direct TV MDU installation and service experience preferred.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Working knowledge of electronic equipment including routers, switches, and related supporting equipment.
    • Demonstrated understanding of computer networks.
    • Previous experience with electronic equipment installation, and maintenance and supporting infrastructure such cables, power supplies, and cable management.
    • Ability to operate appropriate testing equipment and tools with the support and direction from Sr Technicians. (e.g. signal level meters, cable scanners)
    • Computer skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products/Google Docs/Gmail.
    • Strong critical-thinking and problem solving, attention to detail and time management skills are required.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required including end user customer service skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without supervision.
    • Ability to travel (company vehicle provided) within assigned service areas, up to 100 mi radius of assigned reporting location.
    • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
