The Direct Mail Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, development, execution, and optimization of catalog and direct mail campaigns to acquire new customers and retain existing ones. This role oversees the end-to-end management of catalog and direct mail operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and driving measurable results. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong project management skills who can collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners to maximize campaign impact.

- Lead the development, execution, and optimization of catalog and direct mail campaigns focused on customer acquisition and retention.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of catalog and direct mail operations, including creative development, copywriting, production timelines, and vendor coordination.
- Develop and manage testing strategies to optimize targeting, messaging, and creative elements for maximum impact.
- Partner with Catalog and Direct Mail vendors to build customer segmentation and targeting strategies that maximize response rates and drive campaign ROI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, business intelligence, and analytics, to align catalog and direct mail efforts with overall marketing and growth strategies.
- Partner with analytics vendors to track and report on key performance metrics, such as response rates, conversion rates, and campaign ROI, ensuring growth targets are met.
- Manage all aspects of the creative process, from copywriting and design to internal review and production.
- Develop and maintain the annual circulation plan and budget to achieve fiscal revenue and profitability goals.
- Communicate match-back results for each campaign and ensure catalog and direct mail efforts are on track to meet targets.
- Oversee relationships with external vendors and agencies, ensuring timely execution and quality deliverables.
- Stay current with catalog, direct mail, and marketing trends, applying industry best practices to enhance campaign effectiveness.
- Lead A/B testing initiatives to continuously optimize creative elements, targeting, and audience segmentation.
- Mentor and develop the Catalog Designer on best practices in direct mail and campaign management.
- Maintain and update the do-not-mail list, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform all other duties and projects as assigned by a supervisor or manager.

Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism, advertising or equivalent in business or related field preferred.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in direct mail, specifically with catalogs, is required.
- High proficiency in Excel.
- Values the entrepreneurial spirit and can think quickly and creatively in the moment.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships at all levels of an organization and work successfully with them.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including strong presentation skills.
- Comfort in a deadline-driven environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, planning, time management, and organizational skills required.
- An ability to manage multifaceted projects and a capacity to perform well independently in a fluid multi-tasking environment are essential.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
- Proven ability to excel working independently and as part of a (permanently virtual and in-person) team environment.
- Ease and skill in a remote people management scenario, to ensure satisfactory work and coaching of a direct report.
