What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant and Tree Health Technician position at Belknap Landscape Company, Inc.?
We are seeking dedicated individuals who are enthusiastic about plant and tree health and delivering top-notch service to our valued clients. We have full-time Plant and Tree Health Technician positions available.
Plant and Tree Health Technicians help us ensure the plant life on our client’s properties are viable for seasons to come. From turf to treetop, our Plant Health Technicians have the ability to diagnose diseases, formulate treatments, apply fertilizers and pesticides, and care for the plant life of a property holistically.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Use appropriate fertilizers and pesticides as labels recommend
· Create proper treatment plans and present to the company Arborist
· Perform deep root fertilization, IPM applications, and animal repellants.
· Complete winterization to include installing deer fence and burlap wrapping.
· Communicate with clients regarding applications performed during a visit via electronic door tags
· Present clients with information on diagnosed issues and potential treatment plans
· Identify and communicate potential enhancement upsells to client and account managers
· Assist in training employees in plant and disease identification
· Support tree crew during winter operations
· Support snow removal operations as needed
EDUCATION & TRAINING
· NH G1, G2 and Cat B applicator licenses within first 30 days of employment (required)
· NH Supervisory license for G1, G2, and Cat B within first year of employment (required)
· NH Arborist or ISA designation within the 2nd year of employment (required)
· Participate in continued education opportunities within your field of expertise
SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Valid Drivers License Required, company will help employees obtain DOT Medical Card
· The ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings
· Must be 18 years of age
· Plant & tree identification
· Identification and diagnoses of insect/disease/cultural issues
· Take site measurements as needed
· Use proper resources to troubleshoot new challenges or issues
· Proper use and calibration of hand tools and equipment
· Diagnose and repair tools and equipment in the field
· Operate aerator
· Know and adhere to NH DES rules and regulations regarding application on waterfront properties
· Ability to read and decipher Safety Data Sheets and Labels
· Proper use of hand tools and equipment
· Use proper time management
· Work independently and make decisions
· Use safe work practices at all times
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent customer service skills
PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
· Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures and various weather conditions.
· Frequently required to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of items exceeding 50 pounds.
· Often required to reach above and below shoulder level.
· Frequent hand manipulation is needed for grasping, handling objects, and operating controls.
· Frequent bending and squatting, with occasional twisting and kneeling.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position may require travel within the designated territory and working in various outdoor environments.
HOURS
30 – 50 hours per week, Monday through Friday and weekends as needed.
BASE PAY RATE
$24.00-$30.00 per hour.
