JOB SUMMARY:
Buyer 2 purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the
organization. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids and negotiates prices and terms for purchased
goods and services. Buyer 2 tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current
database of vendor information. Buyer 2 is responsible to partner with the business to gather
requirements for items to be sourced and purchased. They verify, prepare and forward purchase
orders as well as verify accuracy of receipts and authorize payment to vendors. The position
evaluates suppliers and vendors through the process of establishing win-win long term
relationships with continuous improvement as a focus. Ensures the organization has a
competitive place in the market. Monitors purchases and deliveries to ensure inventory levels are
maintained while optimizing existing and offsite storage conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be

- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from
suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
- Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
- Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in
error with suppliers.
- Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
- Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
- Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing
data and trends.
- Assists in performing cost analyses and set appropriate benchmarks for spend categories
- Coordinates deliveries of goods and supplies as necessary
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and year over year savings across supply
categories
- Research and networks to discover viable suppliers; work with vendors to secure advantageous
terms
- Collaborates with key persons to ensure clear communication of the specifications and
expectations of the company
- Foresees trends and predict alterations in the negotiating ability of suppliers and client

- Continuous Improvement Opportunities identified
- Reduction in working capital as related to supplies / ingredients
- Zero supply / ingredients stock outs impacting the operation
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain or manufacturing related fields
- HS diploma / GED required, bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of
education and experience
- Successful work experience in a procurement role, supervisor/management experience a plus
- Exceptional talent in vendor management, negotiating and networking
