Job Summary
BELL Construction is hiring for a Crane Operator to join us in Nashville, TN working on Heavy Highway construction. The Crane Operator is responsible for operating a stationary or traveling crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads for construction project needs. Operation includes depressing buttons, lifts levers, and ensures load is safely attached to crane before bringing it down.
Job Responsibilities
- Operates crane under general supervision.
- Manipulates or depresses controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, and or signal instructions.
- Inspects crane for safety issues on a daily basis and determines if any parts are malfunctioning.
- Lifts, positions, and places machinery, equipment, or other large objects at construction sites.
- May additionally operate heavy equipment such as: trackhoe, dozier and backhoe utilizing feet for pedal movement.
- Places blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads.
- Moves levers and pedals to rotate crane / heavy equipment on chassis to raise and lower boom and to raise and lower load-line.
- Works within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
- Operates according to signals.
- Starts and stops engine.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Minimum required – Two (2) years of experience as a crane operator on a construction site.
- Must be NCCCO Certified.
Knowledge & Skills
- Must be able to operate Telescoping Jib Booms and Hydraulic Lattice Crawler Cranes to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions.
- Knowledge of safe operating techniques of equipment.
