Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client recruit their first Chief Financial Officer. Our client is a consulting firm with global reach. Recently received a PE investment and now are hiring their first CFO. CEO and founder has held the Finance duties and now need this person to come build out the CFO function. $65m in revenue, 3000 employees globally. Executive team is in Santa Clara. Growth plans to be $100m with future M&A.
Responsibilities:
- Global Financial Strategy and Planning
Develop and execute a comprehensive global financial strategy, considering the startup's pre-revenue status and expansion plans. Contribute to the creation of a financial roadmap aligning with our strategic business objectives and the unique challenges of a startup environment.
- Corporate and Facility Financial Planning
Lead financial planning (budgets, forecasts, actuals, and cash management) for our top companies and operations globally. Develop and manage detailed financial plans for our facilities, adapting to the startup's evolving needs and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Manage relationships with our three global banks.
- Global Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with external stakeholders globally to secure substantial funding and manage global banking relationships. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment between financial strategies and our global business goals.
- Risk Management and Compliance
Identify and assess financial risks associated with global operations. Develop and implement agile risk mitigation strategies, reflecting the dynamic nature of a startup. Ensure compliance with international financial regulations and reporting standards. Establish a culture of compliance, providing assurance on adherence to regulatory requirements in various global jurisdictions.
- Treasury and Cash Management
Effectively manage global cash flow. Implement flexible strategies for efficient cash flow management, optimizing financial resources for growth.
- International Financial Expertise
Leverage international financial expertise for our global manufacturing and expansion plans. Provide strategic guidance on optimizing financial performance across diverse global operations.
- Tool Selection and Implementation
Manage current tools for financial planning and analysis. In the future, will need to select and implement ERP system. Evaluate, choose, and implement analytics and reporting tools tailored to the startup's evolving needs, enhancing financial analysis capabilities.
- Team Leadership and Development
Build and lead a high-performing small finance team. Cultivate a motivated and skilled finance team, fostering adaptability and resilience in a dynamic startup environment. Implement effective talent development programs, ensuring continuous growth and skill enhancement within the finance team.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, CPA) is preferred.
- Experience: >15 years proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role, preferably in a global environment.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of global financial planning, control, analysis, and risk management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of international financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to roll up sleeves and be a working CFO.
- Fundraising Experience is a PLUS: Experience in fundraising for startups and interactions with investors, equity partners, and lenders.
