Real Estate Fund Accountant
The Real Estate Fund Accountant calculates and reports on property income and expenses, prepares budgets, forecasting financial performance, and provides financial guidance to clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Manages financial records for the real estate investment fund.
- Oversees accounting for all real estate assets, including property purchases, debt payments, depreciation, and lease payments.
- Maintains the general ledger for the real estate investment fund.
- Records all transactions related to property acquisitions, sales, operating expenses, capital calls, and distributions.
- Handles day-to-day general accounting tasks for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepares and distributes investor reports.
- Ensures compliance with GAAP accounting standards.
- Works with an external CPA firm for assurance and tax services.
- Maintains thorough documentation and records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Manages treasury-related activities such as lender/investor reporting and participates in deal closings as needed.
Collaboration and Support:
- Acts as the primary financial record keeper for the fund.
- Collaborates with fund managers and investors to provide accurate financial information.
- Works closely with Chief Operating Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, VP of Finance, accounting managers, and other team members to support the company’s growth initiatives.
- Supports operational tasks and collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve company objectives.
- Assists with financial analysis and reporting to facilitate decision-making and strategic planning.
Lease Management:
- Updates and revises lease terms, ensuring compliance.
- Invoice rents on a monthly basis, and adjust rents annually pursuant to lease terms
- Prepares lease abstracts
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- Five plus years of experience in real estate accounting
- CPA license preferred.
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
