Job Summary
The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for managing, scheduling, dispatching, and coordinating all aspects of plant operations for ready-mix concrete and aggregate materials. This role involves maintaining customer relations, overseeing order processing, and ensuring efficient plant and delivery operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Always maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers, addressing inquiries about products, delivery, policies, and processes.
- Receive and enter concrete and aggregate orders accurately. Review and evaluate order tracking systems and communicate any changes in delivery times to customers.
- Edit and approve driver tickets, calculate driver efficiency, and develop positive rapport with drivers, supervisors, and customers to ensure effective communication of dispatch activities.
- Monitor demand, utilization, and capacity of resources while prioritizing workloads to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Identify potential issues or opportunities for improvement, resolve customer complaints, and ensure all orders are complete and accurate.
- Demonstrate knowledge of delivery areas to assist drivers in locating job sites and determine optimal travel times and plant locations for servicing jobs.
- Continuously seek ways to improve operational quality and apply feedback to enhance performance.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Promote value-added products to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Achieve delivery within /- 15 minutes for over 85% of orders.
- Quantity per Hour: (1st load of the day – last load of the day)
Sulphur Springs: 65 yards/hour
Mount Pleasant: 60 yards/hour
Greenville: 133 yards/hour
- Maintain an average of over 4.5 loads per driver per workday.
- Achieve more than 85% of the forecast monthly yardage.
- Achieve over 4 yards per employee productive hours.
Work Environment
- Requires working in hot (90°F ) and cold (32°F-) temperatures.
- Requires walking on terrain that may be uneven, muddy, and slippery.
- Exposure to sounds and noise levels may be distracting or uncomfortable.
- Exposure to diesel exhaust, dust, and water mist or vapor.
- Variable lighting conditions, dependent upon available natural light.
Functional Demands Related to Essential Job Functions
Board Dispatch
- Arrive 30 minutes before the first ticket.
- Organize the workspace and check the dispatching system for functionality.
- Confirm job readiness with customers, including pump status and address verification.
- Communicate with the plant supervisor to ensure plant functionality and ticket printer readiness.
- Monitor batching speed and service flow, reporting any inconsistencies promptly.
- Provide hourly status reports to management.
Order Takers
- Arrive at 6 AM or as directed.
- Assist board dispatchers and take customer calls to capture order details.
- Ensure accurate order entry into the dispatch system and communicate any conflicts or quality issues.
- Review and confirm next-day orders and report daily dispatch outcomes.
Clothing & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- High-visibility work shirt with sleeves, vest, and/or coat (Uniforms Provided)
- Work pants, jeans, and/or coveralls
- Gloves - general purpose gloves and/or chemical-resistant gloves

Hours
The standard work week is from Sunday at 12:00 a.m. until Saturday at 11:59 p.m. office hours are typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Individual work schedules may vary depending on the needs of each department.
Due to the nature of the Company’s business, employees’ individual work schedule may vary in order to satisfy customer and the Bell Concrete’s needs.
