Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Performs preventive maintenance necessary to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles and / or heavy equipment, mechanical systems, and component parts.
- Performs vehicle and medium-heavy truck diagnostics using scan tools and laptop computer.
- Performs major and minor repairs on all air conditioning systems including automotive, medium-heavy, and heavy trucks.
- Performs major and minor mechanical work, including but not limited to, repair and replace water / fuel pumps, radiators, alternators, differentials, timing chains, belts, hoses, fuses, valves, and batteries.
- Operates a variety of hand, power, and shop tools
- Operates a variety of machinery such as computerized tire balancing machine, tire mount / dismount machine.
- Cleans and maintains shop facilities and equipment.
- Responds to service calls for assistance; retrieves or repairs vehicles and equipment in the field, as needed.
- Assists in locating mechanical parts
- Transports vehicles and equipment to various locations.
- Collaborates with vendors, technical staff, and manufacturing representatives.
- Performs vehicle inspections for the State of Texas
- Attends all trainings and meetings as required
- Performs special duties as assigned.
