Job Description:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Manages Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit process.
- Manages Bell County’s Floodplain.
- Creates and modifies maps by hand or with specialized software.
- Creates maps and data for city, county, and state government, contractors, and other government agencies.
- Creates maps for presentations.
- Reviews and issues Right of Way permits.
- Reviews plats and construction plans for permits.
- Maintains Bell County street sign database.
- Maintains Bell County street maps.
- Researches maps and documents as requested.
- Maintains a current inventory of county maps for public use.
- Maintains map room and drawings, aerial maps, and reference books.
- Maintains department equipment and supplies, including printers, plotters, and blueprint machines.
- Picks up plats, replats, maps and other documents at the courthouse for department engineers.
- Coordinates with contractors, developers to assist in the filing process.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized training in engineering, GIS, transportation logistics, technology or related and two (2) years of experience in civil, engineering, construction management, road and bridge construction and/or inspection, GIS software or closely related areas; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Physical Demands:
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
