JOB SUMMARY :
Yard Jockey operates diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailers to and from loading docks, to and from the yard, to be loaded and unloaded.
Days : Sunday - Thursday ( 8 : 30 pm - 5 : 30 am)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following : Other duties may be assigned.
- Backing / Pulling loaded and unloaded trailers away from loading docks to be staged in the yard.
- Moves trailers within the yard, under direction of Shipping, Supervisors, and Warehouse Leads
- Opens and closes various doors on trailers, secures trailers with locks or seals.
- Performs safety checks on yard equipment and trailers (any visual damage, inspections up to date).
- Required to fill out and maintain records, logs, and forms.
- Monitor yard for refrigerated equipment operation and maintaining of temperature.
- Adjust temp set point on refrigeration units and report shut down codes to supervisor.
- Inspect and maintain fuel levels for company's trailers / rental trailer at the docks / yard.
- Organize trailers in the yard when trailer moves are not being given.
- Required to maintain contact with shipping personnel to receive instructions on when and where to move trailers or other company equipment, such as straight trucks.
- Communicate with transportation team within a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean appearance inside and outside of all vehicles.
- Report all accidents immediately to the management team.
