Engineering Technical Competency Lead (TCL) – Avionics and Mission Systems:
This position is focused on technical talent development and building a pipeline for future talent in Avionics and Mission Systems, embedded systems and software.
The TCL must maintain technical awareness of critical discipline issues across Bell - including military, commercial, advanced technology, and sustainment programs.

What you will be doing: Talent Development Responsibilities:
- Establish and continue communication across Engineering Competency to include (but not limited to) ongoing issues, best practices, lessons learned, training opportunities, staffing opportunities.
- Drive consistency of process and methods in the competency across the company
- Develop Competency staffing plans based on approved Program staffing needs.
- Participate in hiring process in concert with deployed engineering organizations.
- Manage Competency tool sets and develop plans for improving tools, processes and future license needs.
- Develop training material/plans for new hires within their competency.
- Monitor and guide career progression for Engineers within their competency.
- Develop, maintain and communicate best practices and lessons learned.
- Establish and continue communication with Bell Programs to ensure adequate coverage within their competency and to stay knowledgeable of ongoing technical challenges.
- Mentor Engineers in competency, both formally and informally. Provide ready access for career discussions to deployed and undeployed engineers. Coordinate with program personnel as needed
- Maintain awareness of competitive intelligence and industry trends via technical journals, technical forums, trade shows, peer and customer contacts.
- Evaluate new technology concepts from all aspects including certification/qualification, manufacturing/producibility, and customer requirements/acceptance within the business units.
- Identify technical risks and ensure formulation and monitor risk reduction plans.
- Participate and assist in program execution of critical technical challenges in their competency, providing technical expertise and suggested approaches. Support Chief Engineers and IPT leads as required to meet critical company priorities.
- Work closely with technical community to understand where additional support is needed, and provide options for addressing these needs
- Communicate major potential issues to Engineering management (IPT Leads, Chief Engineers) and to VP Core Engineering in a timely fashion.
- Bachelor’s degree is required, with Major in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience. Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in relevant engineering positions in Avionics and Mission Systems with multiple product development cycles is required
- Able to gain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance
- Candidate must demonstrate solid communication skills to be able to collaborate and/or exchange complex information with industry and internal professionals across all organizational levels.
- Experience as a hiring manager is preferred.
- Excellent ability to develop and contribute to teamed efforts.
- Significant technical expertise (Subject Matter Expert) in Avionics and Mission Systems development.
