JOB REQUIREMENTS |
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains relationships with potential and existing customers in the retail, wholesale, and landscape trade.
- Identifies and locates new clients through a variety of methods including networking, trade shows and cold calls.
- Develops and implements strategies for sales in an assigned region.
- Applies knowledge of the plants features to match the needs of customers.
- Answers inquiries from customers concerning plants and their uses.
- Provides information, quotes, credit terms, and other plant specifications to customers.
- Submits orders.
- Collaborates with growers, managers, and other staff to confirm that orders are processed with accuracy and efficiency and that product quality meets expectation.
- Periodically prepares and reports results, status of accounts, and leads to manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent sales, customer service and follow up skills.
- Understanding of plants to be sold.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to work independently and meet timeline requirements.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field is perferred, but not required and or five years’ experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Travel to meet with customers or potential customers and industry tradeshows may be required on occasion.
