Job Summary:
Bell Supply, a family-owned construction material supply company, is looking for a motivated and skilled Lumber Buyer and Product Category Manager to help expand our lumber program. This role is integral to our operations, combining expertise in purchasing, inventory management, customer take-offs, supplier negotiations, and relationship-building to support our growth and deliver exceptional service to our customers.
Responsibilities:
Purchasing:
o Identify and procure lumber and related materials in alignment with company needs, budgets, and quality standards.
o Research and stay updated on market trends to make strategic purchasing decisions.
o Develop and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers to ensure uninterrupted product availability.
Inventory Management:
o Oversee inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock while minimizing carrying costs.
o Implement and refine inventory control processes to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
o Conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy and compliance with company standards.
Supplier Negotiations:
o Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
o Establish and foster long-term partnerships with suppliers, ensuring quality and reliability.
o Address supplier-related issues promptly and effectively.
Customer Relationship Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
o Actively engage with customers to ensure satisfaction and promote repeat business.
o Partner with customers to create solutions that align with their project goals and timelines.
o Represent Bell Supply in a professional and personable manner, embodying the values of our family-owned company.
Qualifications:
o Proven experience in lumber purchasing or a similar role within the construction material supply industry.
o Comprehensive knowledge of lumber grades, products, and market dynamics.
o Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
o Proficiency in inventory management software and tools.
o Ability to interpret construction plans and perform accurate take-offs.
