School Counselor
Bellarmine College Preparatory, a Jesuit secondary school, has been educating young “men for and with others” in the tradition of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, since 1851.
Bellarmine College Preparatory, located in San José, California invites applications for a full-time School Counselor position beginning August 2025. The School Counselor is part of a team whose priority is to maintain a proactive program that engages students, develops advocacy skills, and collaborates with school personnel, administration and community / family members in the delivery of programs and activities to help students achieve success. Working at Bellarmine Preparatory requires a commitment to the mission and values of the school, as well as an enthusiasm for contributing to its co-curricular programs.

Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with the counseling team to consistently provide students a safe and non-judgmental space to express concerns or worries.
- Provide student guidance on academic, personal, and social-emotional concerns— supporting the diverse needs of students.
- Assist students in setting academic goals and developing study skills.
- Monitor student progress and provide interventions as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student learning.
- Promote a positive school climate and encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with department members to review, design and enhance curriculum for CURA(SEL) program.
- Assist College Counseling, Office of Accessible Education, Partners in Ministry, and cocurricular programs to support student experience.
- Facilitate crisis intervention for at-risk students.
- Communicate and provide resources to parents to support their student’s academic, physical, and emotional needs.
- Connect students and parents with internal and community resources for additional support.
- Collaborate with department members to review, design and enhance parent education.
- Saty informed about current trends in education, counseling, and mental health.
- Participate in Professional Development opportunities.
- Keep accurate records for all counselees.
- Attend department meetings and counseling department events.
- Participate in school committees to enhance the educational environment.
- Support Bellarmine’s mission and philosophy.
- Abide by all school policies and regulations.
- Complete other duties and / or projects as assigned by Counseling Department Chair.
