Bellarmine College Preparatory, located in San José, California invites applications for a Director, Academic Resource Center position beginning August 2025. The Director, Academic Resource Center is part of a team whose priority is to maintain a proactive program that engages students, develops advocacy skills, and collaborates with school personnel, administration, and community/family members in the delivery of programs and activities to help students achieve success. This individual is responsible for reimagining and overseeing the ARC as a hub for innovative academic support and forward-thinking practices, grounded in current educational research. The role encompasses leadership in student support, staff mentorship, collaboration with faculty, and program development. The Director will also support initiatives for the students with identified learning differences.

Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
Reimagine and oversee the ARC as a dynamic hub for innovative academic support, fostering forward-thinking practices that enhance student learning outcomes and drive excellence in education
Supervise faculty, staff, and alumni/parent volunteers (AVs) assigned to ARC, ensuring best practices in academic, social-emotional, and technical support for students
Provide regular training and feedback to ARC personnel and Volunteers to foster growth and effectiveness
Model and advise on effective support measures and behavioral strategies for one-on-one and small-group instruction
Manage Study Center classes, focusing on academic skill-building and recovery plans
Support the transition of transfer students by collaborating with Admissions and Counseling to provide personalized material and logistical assistance
Student Support & Services
Provide drop-in academic support across all grade levels, focusing on study skills and connecting students to appropriate campus resources
Collaborate with the Office of Accessible Education (OAE) to monitor and support students assigned to study center classes
Oversee the administration of testing with adjustments such as extended time or computer use
Oversee Bellarmine Academic Mentors (BAM) peer tutoring program
Supports the MAGIS program
Collaborate with the Library Director to ensure the availability of digital and physical resources, including textbooks, novels, and audiobooks
Maintain and expand partnerships, such as with the San Jose Public Library, to enhance resource accessibility
Support make-up testing during Community Time and after school
Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field
Experience in academic program management, student support, and faculty collaboration
Knowledge of best practices in supporting neurodivergent students and accessible eduction
Experience working with high school students
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
Visionary leadership with a focus on innovation and research-based strategies
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive academic environment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multiple stakeholders
Dedication to professional growth and mentorship of staff and volunteers
Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to operate all other applicable software Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Master’s degree in education, counseling, or related field
Experience working in a Jesuit or Catholic high school
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 20 pounds, using proper lifting techniques
Ability to sit, stand, and/or move around the classroom as needed
Ability to travel around our campus safely and comfortably
Ability to use a keyboard (or an alternative input device) and other office equipment
Ability to read information in printed material and on a computer screen (often for extended periods of time) and/or on a mobile device/laptop
