DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT

Job Overview:

The Director of Global Engagement leads initiatives that promote the Universal Apostolic Preferences . This includes global solidarity, multicultural awareness and faith-driven engagement through Catholic Social Teaching, in alignment with the Jesuit mission of Bellarmine Preparatory School. This individual fosters an inclusive environment, cultivates student leadership in service and justice, and integrates Ignatian Spirituality into all programs at Bellarmine Preparatory School. This is a full-time position including 1-2 sections of instruction or the equivalent. This is an administrative tier 1 position that is supervised by the Principal.

Core Functions and Duties:

• Justice, Inclusion and Global Engagement
• Develop and implement programs that address global and local justice issues through a Catholic Social Teaching lens.

• Organize advocacy initiatives that empower students to engage in social change (e.g. advocacy efforts, prayer, awareness campaigns, immersion trips).
• Lead or identify leads for immersion trips that focus on global awareness.
• Partner with Jesuit and Catholic organizations to expand student opportunities in global justice initiatives.
• Partner with Jesuit Global School Network to ensure our programs build an understanding of Ecological Justice aligning with Laudato Si.
• Collaborate with administration in the development of innovative programming and support the coordination between department in real world problem solving.
• Partner with key stakeholders at Bellarmine to ensure all programs are aligned to support our students.

• Integrate justice, inclusion, and global engagement across all student-facing programs.
• Global Engagement through Service-Learning and Community Involvement
  • Oversee service programs that encourage students to engage meaningfully with marginalized communities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local nonprofits, faith-based organizations and global mission partners.
  • Guide students in developing reflective practices that connect service to faith and justice.
  • Provide guidance in the development of global citizens through the curricular program and global scholar initiative.
  • Develop programs that are world-affirming and foster a climate of encounter.
  • Support programs that further our student engagement with the Universal Apostolic Preferences:
    • Relationship between discernment and spiritual formation
    • Relationship between service, prayer and inter-faith dialogue
    • Relationship between economics, ecology and care for the common home
    • Relationship between engagement and building a hope-filled future
  • Collaborates with the Ignatian Formation planning team to ensure service-learning is accessible to all students, and that our community experiences our student involvement in service.

• Multicultural Awareness and Inclusion
  • Foster dialogue around diversity, inclusion, and belonging from a Catholic and Jesuit perspective.
  • Organize cultural heritage events, interfaith discussions and leadership opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Align and support the Dean of Student Life and the affinity groups to ensure all cultures are represented and reflected in our programs.
  • Partners with our Dean of Student Health and Wellness to ensure our climate and culture response protocol are appropriately implemented, and visible to our community.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate multicultural perspectives into the curriculum.
  • Partner with various departments to ensure all programs are accessible and reflect our multicultural student body.

• Ignatian Spirituality and Interfaith Dialogue
  • Infuse Ignatian spirituality into justice and service programming, helping students reflect on their role as "men and women for others."
  • Support interfaith dialogue through cooperative, constructive, and positive interaction between people of different religious traditions and/or spiritual beliefs.
  • Collaborates with the Campus Ministry team to ensure all students have access to Campus Ministry programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Theology, Social Justice, Education, or related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and Ignatian spirituality.
• Experience in service learning, global justice, diversity and inclusion work, and/or campus ministry.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and program development skills.
• Ability to engage with students, faculty, parents, and external organizations in a mission-driven fashion for outcomes/social change.
• Commitment to working with a diverse student body.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in immersion trips, advocacy training, or nonprofit/community work.
• Background in multicultural education and student leadership development.
• Experience with data analysis and data-informed practice.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale collaboration efforts and implement system changes.
