What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Instructor in English - Bellarmine University position at Bellarmine University?
Bellarmine is seeking part-time instructors to teach fundamentals of college writing as part of Bridge to BU, a fully residential summer bridge program for incoming first-year students. The bridge will take place in summer session II, which runs from July 1 - August 2, and will prepare participants to succeed at Bellarmine through three credit-bearing courses and a variety of activities designed to build community and connect them to key offices and support structures.
The English class we are offering as part of the bridge, ENGL 100 (Fundamentals of College Writing), is a 3-credit course designed to equip students with both the confidence and some of the skills they will need to succeed in future courses in the core curriculum and their majors. The course will focus on introducing fundamental writing concepts and skills to prepare students for success in future courses.
The course will be on campus Monday-Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 and on Fridays from 9:00 to 10:00. In addition to class time, instructors will be expected to participate in two weekly meetings, one with other ENGL 100 instructors and one with other instructors teaching different subjects to the same small group of students.
Job Requirements:
A Master's degree in English is required. Experience teaching college writing courses or high school English is strongly preferred.
