Position: High School Science Teacher

Location: 8346 Hwy 23, Belle Chasse, LA

Job Type: Full-time, Nine (9) months (182 days) per year according to PPSB

School Year: 2025-2026

Salary Range: $60,000 - $87,000 for Certified Teachers and $54,560 - $69,410 for Uncertified Teachers (Teachers with Temporary Authorities to Teacher – TAT)

Ad Valorem - 2.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries.  The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee’s supplement is the employee’s salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues).

Position Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and skilled High School Science Teacher to teach Physical Science and Biology to students in grades 9 and 10. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science, a passion for teaching, and the ability to engage students in hands-on learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons that align with state standards and school curriculum.
2. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
3. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
4. Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback.
5. Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement cross-curricular projects and initiatives.
6. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school administration.
7. Participate in school events, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular activities as needed.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Valid LA teaching certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsements.
3. Strong knowledge of high school science curriculum and instructional best practices.
4. Experience in teaching high school students (preferred, but not required).
5. Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities.
6. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
7. Excellent attendance record.
8. Passion for science and inspiring students to pursue their academic goals.
