What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Grounds Keeper (Part-Time/Seasonal) position at Bellerive Country Club?
Description
This is a part-time season/temporary position. This position is expected to last from April through November(weather depending). Hourly entry-level position working underneath the Director of Horticulture and alongside the Horticulture team to assist in maintaining the clubhouse grounds and non-turfgrass landscaped areas of the club to the highest standard. This includes annual and perennial landscape beds around the clubhouse and golf course.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and golf course construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement.
- Operate golf carts, trucks, tractors, mowers and light motorized equipment.
Job Tasks/ Duties
- Backpack blowing club grounds and areas around the golf course as needed
- Weed control (Pulling or spraying weeds)
- Deadheading (Cutting off spent flower buds)
- Pruning
- Assist with planting annuals, shrubs, trees, bulbs, etc.
- Hand watering. Using a hose or watering cans
- Assist in weekly mowing and trimming of clubhouse lawns.
- Edging curbs and landscape beds.
- Mulching

Education and/or Experience
- No formal Education required.
- Previous work experience is preferred, but not required.
Requirements
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Able to lift up to 50lbs of weight
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
- Comfortable using hand tools such as pruners, loppers, handsaws, trowels, shovels, rakes, pitchforks, etc.
- Comfortable operating a push mower and weed-eater
- Comfortable working outside and able to work through and tolerate hot, cold, rainy, or snowy weather
- Adheres to the dress code policy of Bellerive Country Club's grounds crew
- Able to work the hours one has agreed to work
- Occasional weekend availability preferred—Mainly in the months May-August
- Adheres to safety protocols and procedures
