Job Summary
The School of Music invites applicants for a non-tenure track appointment as an Assistant College Lecturer in Music Education (Instrumental) and interim coordinator of music education, beginning August 18, 2025. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about contemporary pedagogical approaches, teaching methods, techniques, and trends in music education, and have a reputation for excellence in teaching and in forging relationships and creating partnerships in the music education community. Teaching will include some combination of the following : brass, woodwind, string, percussion, instrumental methods, instrumental conducting, curriculum and assessment, and student teacher supervision. Applicants with the ability to also teach instrumental conducting, percussion methods, and music technology are encouraged to apply.
Assistant college lecturers normally teach 12 credits a semester and engage in service duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in music education, or bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in a field related to music education;
- Previous or current valid teaching license;
- At least three years of K-12 teaching in instrumental music.
