As Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling continues to rise as a leader in the New England craft brewing and distilling market, we are constantly striving for excellence in both quality in product and our team. We are almost done (two months) with an extensive expansion of the facility in Newport, RI so now is the most exciting time to come on board. Our Facility has recently doubled in size with two new taprooms (one more to come), new brewhouse, cellar, and packaging equipment with many more Packaging improvements to come.
Newport Craft is looking for a Packaging Technician to join our team at our facility in Newport, Rhode Island. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, energetic and reliable individual, with some level of brewing experience, who is excited to work on a rapidly growing production line and is interested in furthering their career in this industry. There is potential to grow, learn and be a part of an incredible team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in all packaging and canning line duties from start to finish
- Package cases of beer, stack and prepare for delivery
- Handle the palletizing, filling and cleaning of kegs
- Support the operation of the canning line, coder, label and filler machines
- Perform carbonation and daily cellar readings (i.e. gravities, pH and temps)
- Inventory and warehousing duties as assigned
- Aid in the organization and cleanliness of Production Floor and equipment
- Adhere to SOP’s put in place by Packaging Manager
- Operate forklift to move pallets of supplies, equipment and product
- Train on distillery operations, spirits development, safety standards and general production
- Perform brewhouse tasks as needed and help to enforce a clean and safe workspace
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Brewing experience is not required, but is welcome!
- A team player with a positive disposition, level head, sense of humor and strong work ethic ready to work with a crew who loves what they do and values continued learning
- Experience working in a brewery or similar industry/physical labor type role
- Has good time management, communication skills and a teamwork attitude
- The desire to work in a fast-paced environment at a rapidly growing company
- Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a fast-paced work environment
- Familiarity with packaging equipment a plus
- Comfortable driving a box truck and forklift (will certify as necessary, box truck is used probably once a month)
- Basic knowledge of industrial safety/compliance standards a plus
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to stand on your feet for hours at a time
- Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and walk on uneven surfaces
- Must be able and willing to work in hot, cold and wet environments
- Must be able to climb stairs, use a ladder, work at heights above 10ft and lift up to 55lbs
- Ability to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive hand and arm movements
Schedule:
- Full Time, Monday thru Friday
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends when needed
