Newport Craft (Newport Craft Brewing and Distilling, Radiant Pig Beer, Braven Brewing) is a rapidly growing craft brand collective located in beautiful Newport, RI. Our new and improved taproom(s) will be a key part of our success and it is often the first experience consumers have with our brand(s). Taproom Server is a team-oriented position which represents Newport Craft and its affiliated brands with dedication and a passion for craft beer and spirits. Taproom Servers are responsible for creating a welcoming environment for Newport Craft customers by providing an industry-leading service. This is accomplished with a customer first attitude, being knowledgeable about craft beer and spirits, and being passionate about Newport Craft and its products. The position will work directly with the Taproom Manager, Bartenders, and other Service Staff.
Taproom Server Responsibilities:
Greet and seat guests in a friendly and efficient manner- Educate guests about Newport Craft story, beer, spirits, and cocktails.
- Provide beverage recommendations and answer questions about beverage offerings
- Take beverage orders accurately and promptly
- Serve beverages to guests with exceptional customer service
- Ensure guest satisfaction by addressing any concerns or special requests
- Collaborate with bartenders to ensure timely delivery of beverage orders
- Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the service area, tables, and taproom.
- Bring glassware to bartenders or kitchen to be washed and sanitized
- Polish clean glassware and return to proper storage areas
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to complete all opening and closing responsibilities
- Ability to maintain satisfactory personal hygiene and appearance in line with Newport Craft guidelines
Skills:
Previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred- Cicerone, or other beer/spirits certification strongly preferred.
- Strong guest relations and guest service skills
- Excellent hospitality skills with a friendly and outgoing personality
- Proficient in cash handling and POS systems, especially Toast
- Exceptional customer service skills, including active listening and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of food handling and safety regulations
- Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl or bend, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and be able to move kegs which weigh close to 165 pounds.
- Ability to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to scheduled shift to ensure smooth transitioning of staff members between shifts.
- Must have ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedules, as weekend and extended workdays are necessary.
