JOB OVERVIEW
The Event Operations Lead at Meydenbauer Center is responsible for supervising Event Operations Workers and temporary staff in cleaning and setting meeting rooms including chairs, tables, staging, and pipe and drape. The Event Operations Lead acts as a working crew chief in room changeovers, maintaining public areas and restrooms, and routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment. This position must lead a team of staff in a fast-paced, high pressure environment, with great attention to detail and accuracy.
Duties are routine but necessitate some degree of independent judgment as to planning and prioritization. A small portion of time is allotted to organizing and prioritizing tasks and a majority of time is dedicated to directing and participating with the on-the-floor activity of the work group. As part of supervising the staff, this position must lead by example by completing on-the-floor activities with the staff.
The Lead position ensures a positive and cooperative work environment, recognizes safety rule infractions and takes immediate action to correct. He/she administers minor attendance and performance disciplinary action, if necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Reviews daily event and non-event related information.
• Plans and prioritizes work activities for the Event Operations team involved in event set-up and facility maintenance and documents shift activities.
• Inspects ongoing work activities of staff to monitor task accomplishments and work standard achievements. Ensures timely completion of activities and reassigns staff as necessary.
• Ensures compliance with event service orders, fire and safety regulations.
• Leads and participates in the work of the Event Operations Workers including assigning duties, training, assisting in solving work problems, enforcing facility regulations and policies and promoting work efficiency.
• Monitors and documents the quality and quantity of the work of team members by reviewing work progress to determine if schedules are being met. Identifies problems in the quantity and quality of work and takes prompt and effective corrective action.
• Develops responsibility and teamwork among Event Operations Workers in the accomplishments of work tasks by assuring each employee understands her/his work
responsibilities, delegating responsibility and authority to employees who can effectively fulfill them, and encouraging communication with and among teammates.
• Motivates Event Operations Workers by providing recognition and a sense of achievement when a job is well done, and helps employees learn new skills to enable them to feel a sense of personal growth and advancement.
• Provides guidance and instruction to team members in the best way to accomplish tasks.
• Trains team members on new tasks, monitors performance and directly participates in work evaluations.
• Maintains neat and orderly storage and equipment rooms.
• Ensures a positive and cooperative work environment, recognizes safety rule infractions and takes immediate action to correct.
• Administers minor attendance and performance disciplinary action.
• Completes departmental documentation as directed by the Event Operations Supervisor.
• Objectively and constructively evaluates the performance of Event Operations Workers, promptly advising individuals on their performance and clearly defines areas of improvement.
• Provides feedback to the Event Operations Supervisor on areas for departmental improvement, including need for additional training, equipment or support.
• Performs all regular Event Operations Worker duties.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
• Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Prior experience in banquet/event set up or stage management.
CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES
Forklift certification preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position leads up to 10 employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job a small portion of time is allotted to organizing and
prioritizing tasks in an office setting environment, and a majority of time is dedicated to directing and participating with on-the-floor activity of the work group throughout the building.

POSITION TYPE / WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are five days a week from 3pm to 11:30pm. At times, the Event Operations Lead will be required to work later evenings and/or holidays.
