GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The District Nursing Facilitator is responsible for coordinating all nursing services for the school district.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership and assistance in the development, implementation and coordination of the local school health policies, procedures and programs.
- Maintains and updates all necessary forms utilized for health purposes.
- Coordinates with PowerSchool Facilitator to develop and update all health related information in PowerSchool.
- Assures that policies, procedures and programs adhere to legal and regulatory statutes and ethical standards or nursing practice. Updates and revises policies and procedures as needed with collaboration with the Public Health Coordinator.
- Serves as point of contact for district nurse and health paraprofessional staff for the acute and chronic health needs of students.
- Represents the Districts in interfacing with various vendors who support health services.
- Coordinates orientation and training of school nurses while also conducting professional learning for school nurses and health paraprofessionals.
- Serves as consultant to members of the Individualized Education Program (IEPs) teams or other multidisciplinary teams on health related concerns.
- Communicates regularly with the Coordinator of Public Health.
- Maintains K-12 inventory of all school health offices to ensure all school health offices have necessary and up-to-date equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
