Grounds Crew Person
Maintain and enhance the beautiful grounds of Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.
Job Summary: The Grounds Crew is responsible for preserving the aesthetic appeal of the university campus through various groundskeeping duties. Key responsibilities include lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, and general maintenance.
Essential Functions:
- Lawn Care: Operate riding and push mowers, edgers, and weed whackers to maintain immaculate lawns. Fertilize and treat lawns with pesticides and herbicides.
- Landscaping: Trim trees and hedges using chainsaws, hedge cutters, and loppers. Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and other greenery. Lay mulch and remove debris.
- Snow Removal: Efficiently clear snow from parking lots, sidewalks, and streets using snow blowers, shovels, and tractors.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on groundskeeping equipment, including changing oil, sharpening blades, and repairing minor issues.
- Additional Duties: Assist with campus maintenance tasks as needed, such as trash removal, concrete work, and minor road repairs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of experience in lawn or grounds maintenance.
- Proficiency in operating power mowers and other groundskeeping equipment.
- Landscaping knowledge preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions: Outdoor work in various weather conditions. Physical demands include bending, kneeling, crouching, and walking for extended periods. On-call availability for evenings and weekends may be required.
