Purpose
The Clinical Director shall provide administration and direction to the clinical services in Bellewood and Brooklawn’s residential programs, ensuring that clinical services are delivered using best practices, in accordance with established policies and in compliance with licensure and accreditation standards. This position is responsible for overall management of clinical services and their integration and partnership with residential services, as well as for assisting in program development.
Essential Job Functions
- Supervises the clinical staff.
- Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with Bellewood and Brooklawn’s policies and the applicable laws.
- Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance; follows the employee corrective action process; rewards staff for positive outcomes; addresses complaints and resolvesproblems.
- Provides clinical supervision to therapists seeking independent licensure within their own discipline and ensures proper supervision of students interning in the residential program.
- Collaborates with those outside the agency, when clinical supervision is needed for a discipline that the clinical director is not credentialed to provide.
- Ensures that Bellewood and Brooklawn’s clinical services are designed and implemented to meet the needs of residents, their families, funders, and referral sources. Coordinates and ensures around-the-clock clinical consultation coverage for Bellewood and Brooklawn residents. The Clinical Director is on call for phone consultation, and in the case of emergency, on-site support.
- Ensures that clinical services are delivered using evidence based and evidence supported practices, including providing leadership in the selection, training, implementation, fidelity monitoring, and evaluation of these practice technologies.
- Works with Residential Directors to establish and maintain effective and collaborative partnerships that support the positive integration of clinical and residential services through solution-focused, strengths-based approaches.
- Ensures that therapists are effective and contributing members of their primary cottage.
- Participates in Treatment Team meetings and supervises treatment and discharge planning for residents and arrangements for aftercare follow-up. Ensures the quality of the treatment team and treatment planning processes.
- Participates in leadership and other committee meetings as appropriate. Conducts and chairs meetings, such as the clinical staff meeting, for the purpose of providing leadership, review, development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
- Assists in facilitating the working relationship between the nursing and medical teams and clinical staff.
- Develops and coordinates the training program for clinical staff to ensure that they are properly and professionally trained. This includes ensuring that licensure candidates are receiving adequate individual and group supervision as expected by their licensing boards and providing direct clinical supervision when needed and as appropriate.
- Maintains an active clinical license for practice in Kentucky.
- Attends agency trainings as required.
- Assures that documentation of clinical services is appropriate, accurate, timely and compliant with all state and federal requirements. Consults on clinical documentation within the electronic health record.
- Participates in the preparation of the annual budget and manages salaries and other operating expenses within the approved budget on an ongoing basis. Maintains responsibility for monitoring, supervising and implementing the necessary budget controls as they relate to income and expenses.
- Oversees the working relationship between Bellewood and Brooklawn and local universities to coordinate clinical internships for students.
- Participates in long range planning of the agency and assists with developing and implementing new program directions as requested.
- When necessary, serves in the role of therapist.
- When necessary, provides coverage for admissions activities when the Admissions Manager takes time off or is otherwise unavailable.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job supervises 6-15 Clinical employees.

Education
Master's degree or above in a clinical/mental health field
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed to practice independently by a Kentucky board, including the Board of Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Art Therapy.
Experience
3-5 years of clinical supervision experience
