Additionally, they ensure fleet readiness through preventive maintenance and may drive a bus when needed. Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Transportation Operations & Compliance - Plans and manages bus routes, ensures safety and legal compliance, and coordinates with city authorities on loading zones and traffic issues.
2. Personnel Supervision & Training - Hires, trains, evaluates, and disciplines transportation staff while conducting regular safety and CPR training.
3. Fleet Maintenance & Safety Oversight - Oversees vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure a safe and reliable bus fleet.
4. Budget & Payroll Management - Prepares and reconciles transportation department budgets, approves payroll, and submits financial reports.
5. Incident & Student Behavior Management - Investigates and resolves transportation-related issues, including student discipline on buses and operational concerns.
Knowledge/Abilities:
Understanding of pupil transportation systems, vehicle maintenance, and state and federal transportation regulations. Knowledge of safety protocols, route planning, budget management, and personnel supervision.
