What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pile Driving Foreman - SE position at Bellingham Marine?
We're currently seeking a Pile Driving Foreman full-time, traveling position. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects across California, Washington, Oregon as well as the Southern and Southeastern Seaboards. Initial training will be conducted in California.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- This position requires extensive travel, with 100% of the work being performed on job sites;
- Coordinate and supervise pile driving operations on the barge, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations;
- Manage a team of riggers and crane operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and safe work practices;
- Control or designate all mooring operations of the barge for end / beginning of shifts;
- Ensure compliance with all required certifications and licenses, including maintaining a Level 1 / 2 Rigger Certificate (NCCCO or American Crane & Safety) and a Crane Certificate for Linkbelt 218 and 228 (minimum) from NCCCO;
- Oversee underwater pile driving operations, if applicable;
- Maintain a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, particularly OSHA 10 and / or OSHA 30 - Construction, and enforce compliance to ensure a safe working environment;
- Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of cranes, rigging equipment, and other machinery used in pile driving operations;
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute pile driving activities, ensuring project timelines and objectives are met;
- Monitor and track project progress, including daily production rates, material usage, and labor hours, and report to project management as required;
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring all workers adhere to safety protocols and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times;
- Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with established Safety Standards and work practices;
- Mentor and train junior staff members, fostering their professional growth and development in pile driving operations;
- Follow instructions and fulfills the responsibilities within the Emergency Response procedures and advising crews on their responsibilities;
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all pile driving equipment, crane, and barge. Keep diligent records of maintenance and safety inspections;
- In conjunction with crane operator, inspect rigging for deficiencies, identify and replace / repair as needed;
- Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of equipment on transport trucks ensuring that no load leaves overweight or over height;
- Build job-specific wood forms and assemble commercially-available form systems. Set and tie steel, as required. Erect and wreck all forms. Pour, grade and finish concrete;
- Loads and unload materials. Shovel dirt, gravel and asphalt and perform general housekeeping and clean-up of the job site;
- Check and maintain grade stakes and other survey markings;
- Diving Operations : Coordinate and oversee diving operations when underwater inspections, repairs, or maintenance are required. Collaborate with professional divers to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks. Ensure compliance with diving regulations and safety procedures, including proper equipment usage, diving protocols, and emergency response plans.
- Welding Certification : Provide welding activities as required. Ensure proper welding techniques, adherence to welding procedures, and quality control. Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to welding operations, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper ventilation in welding areas.
- Provide quality workmanship, efficient productivity, and safe working environment;
- Conducts safety "tool" box meetings weekly as well as specific incident meetings as required;
- Reports daily activities, project progress, crew working times etc. to project manager;
- Attends pre-construction / weekly construction meetings as required;
- Provides input as too ingress / egress for equipment on new projects;
- Keeps an accurate inventory of all tools, repairs and replaces as necessary;
- Other duties as assigned.
