Bellingham Technical College is seeking a part-time temporary (16 hours a week) Instructional Technician II to support the Information Technology program. Position is anticipated to begin Winter quarter, January 6, 2025. Temporary positions are hourly, and hours are not guaranteed. Assignments are based on the needs of the department. The position reports to the Dean and with additional direction from the program instructors.
Under general direction, plan and coordinate small group projects and demonstrations in a technical instructional program work setting. Assist in the development of programs of instruction involving the use of technical and academic knowledge, materials, and techniques. Work with students, materials, projects and experiments independent of the classroom/shop or laboratory setting.

Duties are performed in an office setting in an educational institution. Position requires 6-8 hours per day working at a computer; occasional twisting, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds; finger manipulation, typing, grasping, repetitive motion; working in an open office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions; thinking clearly in stressful situations; working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; exercising independent judgment in gathering and evaluating program data.Compensation, Benefits and Work Schedule:
Effective July 1, 2024, hourly rate is $26.21 based on Range 9, Step A of the BEST Union salary schedule.
Benefits include paid sick leave earned in accordance with Washington State law and Initiative I-1433. Sick leave is accrued at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a free counseling & referral program. Potential flexible schedule; no additional benefits.
The shift hours generally occur during the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. workday and are considered on call. Hours are generally up to 16 hours per week.

- Provide instructional support to the Information Technology department through course preparation assistance, management of program technology, and assisting with student events;
- Assist in preparation, compilation, coordination of department reports and records;
- Assist in department supplying including coordination with bookstore for student materials on a quarterly basis;
- Clean and maintain classroom equipment and fixtures;
- Assist in facilitating lab or classroom projects through set-up and other coordination;
- Hold and facilitate lab time for students;
- Assist in departmental scheduling;
- Coordinate student activities and events in collaboration with departmental faculty;
- Work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and experiences to facilitate excellent instructional and programmatic activities;
- Demonstrate respect for others;
- Participate in departmental meetings and activities;
- Contribute to college-wide goals and activities;

- An Associates Degree, a vocational certificate or Bachelor's Degree in specific program or instructional area OR two years of college course work in major study area AND two years experience in the specific area of operation;
- OR equivalent education/experience.
