Science Teacher - Bellows Falls Middle School

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Includes, but not limited to, the following. •Provide academic subject instruction in science, ensuring curriculum map and schedule are followed. •Plan for classroom activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving children feedback on completed work to ensuring mastery of presented material and assessments. •Confer with other teachers concerning cross-curricular opportunities. •Communicate with parents on a regular basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual student needs. Meet with parents in person or virtually during conferences. •Maintain grades and curriculum assessments online. •Attend staff meetings, grade level meetings, school and district professional development. •Exhibits enthusiasm for science, engineering, and STEAM. •Collaborates as a team player with colleagues and administration. •Sees the school as a community. •Supports school by attending school sponsored events and activities. •Commits to ongoing professional development. •Learns new skills and integrates technology as changing pedagogy dictates. •Model self-discipline and ethical behavior. •Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school. •Other duties as assigned Preferred but Not Required Knowledge of Restorative Practice Experience with Power School Professional demeanor and characteristics Ability to demonstrate, initiative, leadership, collaboration and independent thinking. Must possess strong people skills and emotional intelligence when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education from four-year college or university Vermont Certification (or ability to obtain)
