Position Summary:
Reports directly to the Dean of Academic Affairs. Primary responsibilities include a full-time teaching load of Spanish
classes, course assessment, curriculum development, and knowledge of a student and learning-centered
environment. Commitment to an environment in which faculty and students share ownership for learning, trust, high
expectations for performance, and mutual respect is expected.
This position requires expertise in the discipline of Spanish. Individual must project a professional image, possess
strong communication skills, and demonstrate cooperative work skills. Must have the ability to apply various creative
classroom methodologies to promote student learning and development.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Plan and teach courses which fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives.
2. Perform instructional duties as assigned.
3. Prepare daily lesson plans, course outlines, and other instructional materials as needed for effective instruction.
4. Maintain ongoing professional development.
5. Maintain and publicly post a schedule of available office hours for consultation with students and others as may be required.
6. Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student learning & performance and achievement of course goals and objectives.
7. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate examinations and other assessment methodologies.
8. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate assessment strategies to measure Core Learning Outcomes and direct measures of student learning.
9. Develop, teach, and evaluate all assigned courses incorporating active learning strategies.
10. Design, implement, and evaluate a systematic plan for program evaluation.
11. Communicate progress in the course to students in a timely manner.
12. Recognize and adapt teaching style to the educational needs of the individual students.
13. Communicate tact and impartiality in dealing with students and student-related problems.
14. Determine and submit students’ grades in accordance with established college policies and procedures.
15. Submit attendance and grades for assigned students electronically as required and maintain appropriate grading documentation.
16. Refer students for counseling and tutoring when necessary.
17. Develop, execute, evaluate, and update the course syllabi and provide college officials with the most recent official copy in electronic format.
18. Be available for assignment to both daytime and evening courses at main and off-campus locations.
19. Perform all teaching responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Academic Affairs.
20. Serve on assigned or voluntary committees, governance teams, and task forces, and/or as an officer of the Faculty Council.
21. Plan, attend, and assist with student, faculty, and college activities as required, including such events as Math Counts and Science Fair.
22. Recommend changes and/or revisions to ensure current and relevant curriculum.
23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
1. Master’s degree in Spanish or master’s degree in a closely-related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish and teaching experience in a post-secondary setting (preferably in a two-year college) is required;
2. Teaching experience in a post-secondary setting (preferably in a two-year college) is required.
