What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Teacher - BES position at Belmont Elementary School?
JOB SUMMARY:
To teach and motivate students according to an established curriculum.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Create written instructional objectives for the course and for units in the course.
2. Establish appropriate instructional goals and objectives for the class that are consistent with the school curriculum.
3. Correlate learning activities with instructional objectives.
4. Effectively integrate appropriate technology.
5. Prepare and maintain written plans and modify them as necessary.
6. Implement a behavior management program for students, assist students in learning and demonstrate responsible behavior.
7. Respect confidentiality.
8. Submit progress reports on each student in the formal education program with recommendations as to further development.
9. Review and purchase appropriate instructional materials to meet individual needs to support curriculum.
10. Utilize homework as a tool for the reinforcement of classroom instruction.
11. Supervise or assist in field trips, recreational and other extra curricular programs for the benefit of the students.
12. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board Policies.
13. Attend staff meetings and contribute to school committee and work groups.
14. Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS:
- Proper certification/eligibility certificate to teach from the NH Department of Education with Endorsement 1811.
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in education.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with teachers, agency personnel, students, parents, and the public.
- Knowledge of basic education techniques and methods.
- Ability to work with all students, including those who possess educational disabilities.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to students' individual learning styles.
- Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.
