What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Technician (PCT) position at Belmont Gardens Recovery Center?
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma/GED preferred
Must have at least one (1) year of sustained recovery if self identifies as being in recovery
Those in recovery are preferred but not required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with a therapist or nurse on developing an individual with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)’s or psychiatric care plan.
- Develops and maintains competencies as delegated by a registered nurse.
- Maintains the safety of individuals with SUD and psychiatric issues.
- Reports all individual activity/needs/change of condition to the therapist or nurse in a timely manner.
- Documents information by maintaining daily logs and electronic charts.
- Performs receptionist duties in a courteous and cooperative manner.
- Utilizes computer/handheld devices for documentation.
- Accurately orders supplies/equipment based on needs through the Director
- Report any activity that is not acceptable behavior of individuals
- Direct individuals to groups, sit in groups with volunteers and assist as needed.
- Provide activities for the individuals with SUD.
- Help to keep the environment clean, including reminding individuals to clean room prior to breakfast.
- Anything else as directed by Director of Direct Care Staff, Director Facility and therapists.
- Attend monthly meetings.
- Maintain MANDT and CPR certification.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- BLS Certificate issued by the American Heart Association – receive after employment if not currently certified
- Become MANDT certified

- Ability to direct others to follow rules
- Ability to redirect negative behaviors
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, on controls; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to be on his/her feet for extended periods of time. The employee must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above head, and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp items. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds such as crates, bags, or cartons. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, beds, equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee may at times come into contact with bodily fluids and must practice universal precautions.
