What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Accounting position at Belmont Park Village?

As our Accounting Director, you will work in partnership with the Senior Vice President of Finance and be responsible for both the financial and management accounting for the Village, and for reporting for related legal entities.
What you will be doing
- Providing monthly reporting of Village results to deadlines, and supporting with monthly external reporting to stakeholders and lenders.
- Identifying and posting accruals, prepayments and other journals.
- Understanding the business and the impacts of business changes on the financials.
- Ensuring external financial reporting is completed by deadline.
- Liaising with budget holders on cost and coding issues, including organizing Cost Variance Review meetings with budget holders.
- Producing weekly, monthly and annual cash forecasting.
- Providing any other ad hoc reporting required.
- Preparing monthly payroll payments and liaising with the Payroll team to ensure accuracy and tax compliance.
- Managing transactions in Oracle, including approving new suppliers, and reviewing and approving supplier payments in Oracle, as well as offline ad hoc payments.
- Reconciling payroll and ensuring costs are recharged, where applicable.
- Performing monthly bank reconciliations for all Village accounts.
- Performing inter-company reconciliations, including corporate loans, and ensuring payments are made promptly.
- Being the point of contact with external auditors and delivering the “Client Assistance Pack” and ensuring required reporting deadlines are adhered to.
- Managing the year-end audit process and preparation of year-end financial statements.
- Acting as the contact for internal audit and ensuring identified issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Overseeing legal formalities such as sales tax and corporate taxes, working with external advisors in preparing tax returns for payment and ensuring timely submission of returns.
- Taking primary responsibility for monthly balance sheet reconciliations, in particular the construction accounting.
- Reviewing and posting expenses, ensuring employees are adhering to Company policies.
- Keeping up-to-date with current accounting standards relevant to the Village location.
- Ensuring Oracle approvals are relevant and there are no risks / conflicts through segregation of duties.
- Ensuring good relationships are in place with suppliers, banks, auditors and other partners.
- Supplying information to management as required.
- Working with the Finance team in the UK to enable transaction processing to be centralized.
- Owning responsibility for Property Accounting, and training and developing the Brand accounts when they are onboarded.
