Through varsity competition and training, Beloit College's Department of Athletics offers a full array of athletic opportunities to the College's 1,000 students, approximately 35% of whom are varsity student-athletes.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain in-season, off-season and summer strength, agility and conditioning programs for all sports.
- Supervise workout seasons for each team.
- Instruction of proper exercise techniques.
- Build strong, positive relationships to effectively mentor and teach students.
- Assist the athletic training staff in rehabilitation and injury prevention.
- Meet regularly with sport coaches to determine the needs for each sport.
- Effectively communicate with students, coaches and the athletic training staff.
- Develop systems for tracking athlete attendance and athlete progress in conjunction with the sport coaches.
- Conduct a needs-analysis for each sport team in conjunction with the sport coach and the team's athletic trainer at the conclusion of each sport season.
- Create and implement facility rules, polices and procedure. Maintain a safe environment.
- Ensure that the facility is properly staffed. Manage hiring processes and paperwork for student employees.
- Serve as a point person for equipment maintenance, cleaning and purchases. Analyze and evaluate new equipment and provide advice regarding the purchase of new equipment. Schedule repairs for the safe use of all facilities and equipment.
- Review and research new technology and equipment.
- Create a competitive culture built on teamwork, discipline, work ethic, consistency and effort.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Credentials and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and CSCS Certification (National Strength and Conditioning Association) required.
- Previous experience required.
- Experience planning, organizing, and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; ability to learn other software relevant to duties (e.g., Jenzabar, Reason content Management System to support web pages, and [specific software/programs]).
