Since the grand opening of ABC Supply Stadium in 2021, the Sky Carp has been on a thrilling journey, achieving tremendous success with each passing year. Nestled in the heart of downtown Beloit, Wisconsin, along the picturesque Rock River, our team is a vibrant part of the city's transformative development. As a High-A affiliate of the prestigious Miami Marlins, we proudly host 66 electrifying home games throughout the season. Social Media and Digital Content Trainee
The Sky Carp wants to add a self-motivated, social-media-savvy individual to help create industry-leading social content. This role will report to the social media coordinator and support the organization's overall social media strategy, including ideation, content creation, publishing, and reporting for organic and branded content. Our overall marketing approach prioritizes driving in-market brand awareness, fan engagement, and revenue, and this role will be a key driver of our efforts.
The individual will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day content and community management across all social media platforms related to Sky Carp, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (Twitter). They will partner with our creative team (video and graphic design) to ensure they’re producing content to maximize reach and engagement and adhere to brand guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- #1 goal of this position is to drive game attendance (ticket sales), merchandise sales, and overall topline revenue for the organization.
- Assist with ideating, presenting, creating, and posting original and engaging day-to-day social media content across all Sky Carp social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (Twitter).
- Assist with interacting with fans, followers, and MiLB/MLB teams in real-time, fostering a sense of community and building relationships with our audience.
- Monitor and respond to social media inquiries, comments, and messages promptly and professionally, escalating issues as needed.
- Identify, communicate, and suggest social media trends in sports and popular culture to the team.
- Stay current on emerging social media platforms, trends, and best practices, and recommend innovative strategies to reach new audiences and engage existing followers.
- Help maintain a detailed weekly and monthly social media calendar, accounting for organic and sponsored content to ensure consistency and quality.
- Participate in live coverage of home and away games, events, and behind-the-scenes activities to keep fans informed and engaged in real time.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, creative, corporate partnerships, and other relevant departments to coordinate social media efforts.
- Work with the team to maintain and update SkyCarp.com to ensure all information is accurate and relevant.
Requirements
- Experience with all social media platforms, photography, and video.
- Experience in the Adobe Creative Cloud (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects), a plus.
- Experienced in Microsoft Suite (particularly PowerPoint).
- Open for professional feedback and composition critiques.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently and self-motivate.
- Creative thinker who can generate engaging content ideas and storytelling concepts.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize goals.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to attend company events of all types.
- Ability to learn, adapt in fast-changing environments, and keep calm under pressure.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, including all games (or other work events) that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to pull tarp and other manual labor tasks, part of the baseball experience.
- Experience working with social media analytics tools.
Education and Experience
Student working toward a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a relevant study area.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The key physical requirements of this position include the ability to walk and stand for an extended period, lift to 30 pounds, and use standard office equipment, including computers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a seasonal, part-time, non-exempt position. The days and hours will vary according to business needs, including evening and weekend work.
