We are looking for a full-time, non-benefited, seasonal summer Engineering Worker to assist in the survey and inspection of county road and bridge construction projects and other related work as assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of Engineering Technicians. Preference will be given to college students studying in Engineering or a related field.
Hiring salary range is $20.05 to $21.92 per hour with a full salary range of $20.05 to $25.40 per hour. Education and Experience

Essential Functions
Assists Highway Technicians in the following duties:
Some knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures of the work; some knowledge of surveying methods; some knowledge of specialized equipment used in performance of duties assigned; ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling, frequently requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently requires exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).Special Requirements

- Conducts surveys of existing roads for reconstruction; stakes roads for reconstruction based on plans and standards.
- Performs construction surveys to guide construction of roads and bridges; measures and computes volumes and areas of contract pay items.
- Performs topographic, cadastral, and hydrological surveys of projects set for future construction.
- Inspects highway construction projects; collects and test required construction material samples.
