The Work & The Team
As a Materials Lab Intern, you will work alongside our Materials Engineer to perform in-house material testing, ensuring product quality, optimizing fabrication processes, and supporting new business opportunities. Your work will directly contribute to product performance, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
The Materials Lab is responsible for:
- Testing and analyzing belts, raw materials, and components to maintain quality standards.
- Developing and improving laboratory testing procedures.
- Supporting manufacturing teams by validating product performance.
This is a hands-on role where you will work with laboratory and manufacturing equipment, gaining valuable practical experience in material science, quality control, and testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and test material samples using utility knives, cutting tools, and measurement devices.
- Conduct quality inspections on incoming belts and materials.
- Perform physical and mechanical testing on conveyor belt components.
- Log and analyze test data, using Microsoft Excel
- Assist in refining testing standards and lab procedures.
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to improve material evaluation.
Skills & Experience Recommended
- Mechanically inclined with an interest in materials testing.
- Basic understanding of measurement tools (calipers, dials, gauges, and scales).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve with minimal supervision.
- Confident using computers and familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Knowledge of belting, polymers, or materials science is a plus but not required.
