Job Description

We are hiring a S afety Specialist on behalf of a well-established electric power and mechanical contractor that provides a wide range of services to support commercial and residential clients.

This role is a full-time, long-term position in the greater Denver, CO area geared toward distribution, transmission and substation construction projects.

Position Offers :

Pay : $70k - $110k. If your target pay is higher, we still encourage you to apply—we could request adjustments based on experience and market conditions.

Responsibilities :

Provide unwavering leadership for safety in the organization.

Work to control and eliminate hazards of the working environment.

Support field crews and employees in all aspects of safety.

Train field personnel in OSHA, company policies and procedures.

Conduct all aspects of new employee orientation and training programs for field employees.

Participate with project management and field crews in pre-planning job site safety activities.

Enforce safety policies to include advising on and facilitating employee disciplinary actions as warranted.

Conduct and document site safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety and health programs; identify unsafe working conditions; initiate corrective actions; complete and distribute detailed safety audit reports.

Conduct timely incident investigations and RCA (root cause accident) investigations; files all appropriate reports and communicates with management.

Maintain a working knowledge of the latest developments in construction industry safety field; develops safety training / education programs and implements those programs in a comprehensive and professional manner; documents training and education programs per company system requirements.

Act as OSHA liaison to outside parties, insurance reps, etc.

Coordinates and facilitate regulator (OSHA) inspections to include preparation of written appeals in response to citations.

Qualifications :

BS Degree in occupational safety / health or four-year equivalent industry experience is preferred.

CPR / First Aid / AED Trainer.

OSHA 500 Construction Trainer and CUSP (Certified Utility Safety Professional) desired but not mandatory.

One to five years Electric power construction or industrial safety experience with strong interest in safety field.

Working knowledge and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and Company safety regulations.

Knowledge of OSHA 1926.269 Subpart V Electrical Power Transmission & Distribution desired.

Ability to recognize unsafe or hazardous working conditions and implement corrective measures as necessary.

Strong interpersonal and group presentation skills required.
