We’re helping to hire a Night Shift Manager for a manufacturing company located in Birmingham, AL. The company is a leading international specialist supplier of clamping rings, lids, and seals for the packaging industry.
This role will report to the Plant Manager. The Night Shift Manager will ensure quality products are produced efficiently and on time while maintaining a safe workplace. The Night Shift Manager will develop and train personnel to ensure successful production.

Responsibilities
Safety. Responsible for ensuring that each plant work environment is safe and in compliance with all safety regulations. Responsible for ensuring that safe work practices are in place and adhered to by all plant personnel.
Quality. Responsible for ensuring and improving quality by following established work methods. Opportunities to revise procedures to new best practices would be coordinated with the Corporate quality manger and plant manager.
Labor Productivity. Responsible for improving labor productivity (utilization) resulting in improved labor cost per ring. Responsibilities include daily determination of necessary staffing requirements and work assignments.
Material Utilization. Responsible for ensuring that material purchased is transformed into good rings without generating scrap or waste.
Maintenance. Responsible for all day-to-day maintenance activities to ensure plant and equipment stays at optional operating status.
Personnel. Responsible for ensuring that employee disciplinary, hiring and termination practices are being followed without exception. Responsible for maintaining the established staffing level and coordinating permanent staffing additions with the Corporate management.
Training. Responsible for training and developing production associates to better perform their job responsibilities.
Warehouse Management & Housekeeping. Responsible for ensuring that the plant is maintained in an organized and orderly fashion.
Skills
Proven work experience as a production supervisor or manager.
Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise with a mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
